The Campfire Poets

Roots

So it begins. It’s late 2001. Geoff and Neil have been messin’ with a couple of sidelines. Keep it simple. 2 guys, guitar, percussion, voices. The Campfire Poets are born. Lot’s of variety. Mostly classics; you know, songs everyone knows. Audiences make the show. Singing, stomping, dancing.

It’s many great parties later, 2002. The Electric Campfire experiment. By request, The Campfire Poets add bass and drums for a private party they had been hired to play. Turned out to be a good move and a blast of a night was had.

The Electric Campfire Poets are born. Geoff, Neil, Ryan Hancock and Shaun McMullin. More power! Same idea. Good times.

2003. Joe Mama has fallen and can’t get up. ECP as they came to be known gets another shake up and says bye to Shaun, Hi to Erick on drums. Shaun occasionally returns as the most versatile fill in player the world has ever known. Drums, bass and guitar.

The line up stands.
Erick Bruck; The solid rock, drum foundation. Ryan Hancock; The baddest bass, Neil Virgoe; Guitar and all that, and Geoff Canlett; voice and dance moves, kinda.

So, only one more change to go in this chapter.. These 4 guys, this high energy party band would now be called “The Campfire Poets”. Seems The Electric Campfire Poets thing just had too many syllables to pronounce well at 2 in the morning.

2008

"The Poets" have now spent the last 5 years making new friends and fans, and playing many of the hottest spots in Ontario (and East coast). Thanks for the great times !

Introducing Rob Van on the guitar. After a lengthy search, Rob joins our family and delivers a new dimension to the band. Great chops but with a whole lotta show just for the fun of it.
Hey Buddy !

Also, check out Erick's debut album "Porterfield" It sounds great and will be out very soon.

One of our founders, Neil, has to take a break for family reasons.
He'll be missed but hopefully not for long. Not the last we've seen of Neil and "The Poets".

So... We decide to change direction yet a little further.

The full band now begins limiting the number of club dates.
Expect to see the band at more festivals, weddings and corporate functions.
Same hot line up.

For the bar and pub goers, Ryan and Geoff revisit the bands roots with an updated duo act named R n G.

But thats not all. What else does the future hold?
It's still a bit of a secret, but the boys are working on the biggest Campfire Poets show you've ever seen. There will be more new faces, lots of laughs and of course, great music. Stay tuned for more info later this year.
